Australia Knocked Out of Twenty20 World Cup, lost to Sri Lanka by 6 wickets


ODI World Champions Australia has knocked out of the 2009 ICC Twenty20 World Cup in the first round only as they lost their 2nd match against Sri Lanka on Monday, 8th June, 2009 at Trent Bridge.


Australia desperately wanted to win shortest vesrion title but they were out in Semi-Final stage in the 1st T20 WC and now they knocked out even early in the 1st round.


Match Summary:Australia - 159/9 in 20 overs

(Johnson 28*, Mendis 3-20, Malinga 3-36).

Sri Lanka - 160/4 in 20 overs

(Sangakkara 55*, Dilshan 53).

Toss - Sri Lanka, who chose to field first.

Man of the Match - Kumara Sangakkara (Sri Lanka)

Result - Sri Lanka won by 6 wickets (with 6 balls remaining).
